SRHS, UnitedHealthcare reach contract agreement

Southern Regional Health System has reached an agreement with UnitedHealthcare of Georgia to continue providing health care services for customers in all UnitedHealthcare products in metro Atlanta. The contract was scheduled to expire Jan. 31 and the recent announcement means there will be no disruption of service for members.

UnitedHealthcare of Georgia is one of Southern Regional Health System’s largest managed care relationships.

“We are happy that we could come to agreement with United,” said Dan Hoodin, VP, managed care / corporate compliance officer, Southern Regional Health System. “The agreement will allow thousands of our current and future patients to continue to have access to our facility on an in-network basis.”

UnitedHealthcare-Georgia provides health insurance products to more than 600,000 Georgians across the state through a network of more than 10,000 physicians and 100 hospitals. The products, sold to employers in both the small and large group markets, include Choice and Choice Plus open access health plans, as well as PPO, EPO and consumer directed health plans (CDHPs). UnitedHealthcare provides its customers with broad networks of health care providers, has a commitment to evidence-based medicine, and through its myuhc.com Web site makes available to customers information which can help them become more informed consumers of health care services.

Southern Regional Health System offers comprehensive health resources, including: Southern Regional Medical Center, a 406-bed, full-service hospital in Riverdale, featuring a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center; The Women’s Life Center; a Diabetes Resource Center and one of the busiest emergency departments in the state. Southern Regional also provides mental health, home health care, substance abuse treatment and surgery efforts through RiverWoods, Southern Regional Psychiatric Center; Southern Regional Homecare; and the Surgery Center at Mount Zion, located in Morrow.
