Bringing back the carbs

Fayetteville doctor releases new weight loss book

A Fayette County resident who has spent years helping people around metro Atlanta lose weight has written a book that he hopes will make his techniques available to an even larger audience.

Dr. Walter Smith’s 17 years worth of food-friendly weight loss techniques are now available in the new book “Get Thin Now!” Smith will be appearing at the Fayette County Library March 27 from 2-6 p.m.

Want to lose weight but still enjoy pizza, pasta, bread and other foods with carbohydrates? Shouldn’t you be able to enjoy dining out and snacks while shedding pounds? A leading expert in the field of weight loss, Smith, feels certain that you can cancel your short-term diet and enjoy the foods you want (including carbohydrates) while losing weight.

For almost two decades that is exactly what he has been telling those who visit his metro Atlanta patient clinics. Now, he shares his weight loss program (which includes all food groups) with those who cannot come see him in person in his new book “Get Thin Now!”

Since 1986, Dr. Smith has helped over 40,000 people safely and effectively lose weight in his patient clinics using his Get Thin Program. In “Get Thin Now!,” Dr. Smith boils down his Get Thin Program into 96 pages of time-tested techniques for weight loss. The book offers straightforward advice on weight loss that works with your life and can be started on day one.

“Weight loss does not have to be difficult and restrictive,” said Dr. Smith. “Don’t waste your time reading thick, boring books or imposing complicated restrictions. Who has time for that?”

“Get Thin Now!” includes the same principles used in Smith’s clinics, which have helped his patients lose between 5 to 20 pounds per month, depending on their efforts.

Smith’s new book emphasizes long-term results and avoids common diet pitfalls like eliminating certain foods, cutting meals or spending countless hours at the gym. “These things may work for a short time, but ultimately they do not last for most people,” said Smith.

By offering food variety that includes things like favorite foods, dining out, snacks and carbohydrates, along with shopping lists and sample menus that simplify meal planning, “Get Thin Now!” makes for an easy-to-read reference for effective weight loss.

Whether people are looking to remake their wardrobes, drop a few pounds or improve their health, Smith’s “Get Thin Now!” provides answers for achieving long-term success. Copies are now available for $9.95 at www.drsmithprogram.com.

Dr. Smith is a licensed physician and a leading expert in the treatment of weight loss and obesity. Founder of the Get Thin Program, Smith operates the largest medical weight loss program in the Southeast. Today, Dr. Smith continues to see patients and also directs multiple physicians across numerous metro Atlanta locations.

Based on the success of his Get Thin Program, Smith has taught other physicians, student doctors, interns and residents about his weight loss techniques.

For almost two decades, the Get Thin Program has outlived the introduction and disappearance of countless other weight loss products and diet plans that have promised great claims but fallen short on results. The Get Thin Program provides an approach to weight loss that easily fits your life while avoiding difficult restrictions. In addition to providing doctor-designed techniques, the program offers food variety, a reasonable eating schedule of 3 to 5 meals per day and options for dining out and eating favorite foods.

Dr. Smith also provides a portfolio of weight loss products that work hand-in-hand with the Get Thin Program. These products include do-it-yourself materials, vitamins, supplements, books and snack bars and are available in Smith’s patient clinics or at www.drsmithprogram.com.
