Child put in DFCS care after judge questions parents legal maneuvers By JOHN MUNFORD A child was ordered into the custody of the Fayette County Department of Family and Children Services Friday after concerns the child was being used as a pawn between the two parents. The order was revealed during a bond hearing for Edward L. Izzo Jr. of Tyrone who was charged with simple battery. Magistrate James A. White noted that the parents had legal proceedings in four different counties involving other DFCS offices and judges, including some in Coweta County. These people have got to stop using this child as a pawn, plain and simple, White said before granting Izzo a $2,000 bond. If the problems continue, White said, You both need to be locked up. One of the bond conditions was the Izzo stay away from the victim; Izzo has a temporary restraining order against him from a previous case, White said. White said with all the various legal proceedings in four different counties, he wants to try and bind them all into one legal action, ideally in Fayette County, so the matters can be dispensed with. The courts interest is in protecting that child, White said.
