DAPC nominees considered tomorrow

No opposition is expected Thursday night, when the Peachtree City Council will be asked to approve the names of five residents nominated to fill the vacancies on the city's Development Authority.

Just Tuesday, a fifth vacancy was created on the seven-seat board when chairman Bob Brooks resigned. That left just two members, Scott Formel and Bill Bexley, from the original board that managed the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater and Peachtree City Tennis Center through Nov. 30.

With those tasks now firmly in the hands of the new Peachtree City Tourism Association, the mostly freshman board will return to its original mission: Economic development.

The names nominated by a committee are Steve Fraas, Todd Strickland, David Miller, Stephen Savage and Tyler Duffy. None have served on the panel before, although Strickland has been nominated but withdrew his name last year amid controversy on the council about the makeup of the DAPC board.

They will serve scattered terms ranging from one year to four years.
