A former Fayetteville resident is now serving as an agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation after he graduated last week from the FBI Academy at Quantico, Va.

Jeffrey D. Blaney, a 1989 graduate of Fayette County High School, previously attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he graduated in 1993.

Before attending the FBI Academy, he was on active duty and worked with the Army Space Program Office at the National Reconnaissance Office in Washington, D.C. He is married to Emma Cuevas, a West Point classmate, and they have three children: Isabella, Samantha and Thomas.

Blaney has been assigned to one of the FBI’s 56 national field offices.

His mother, Jean, a retired flight attendant, said her son has dreamed all his life of being an FBI agent.

Blaney’s father, Dr. Thomas D. Blaney, graduated from West Point in 1967.
