All 22 Fayetteville businesses emerged unscathed from an undercover operation to check if they were complying with state and local ordinances regarding the sales of alcoholic beverages, police said.

The sting was conducted Wednesday by Fayetteville police officers and members of the Underage Enforcement Group of the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Alcohol and Tobacco Division.

Several local establishments have been cited in recent months after they were found in violation of state laws and city ordinances relating to alcohol sales. Most recently, Thai Land of Smiles was cited for selling alcohol without a license.

The city requires each individual business to have a license to sell alcohol, and each employee of that business who will be selling alcohol must also be registered and given a special ID badge issued by the police department once that person passes the criminal background check.

The Fayetteville Police Department was pleased that all establishments were found to be in compliance during the undercover investigation, said Lt. Beverly Trainor.
