Fulton County School System receives $20,000 technology donation

A $20,000 donation from Dell Computers and Microsoft Corporation will aid the skills of 80+ school-based technology specialists in the Fulton County School System.

Katie Lovett, chief information officer of the Fulton County School System, accepted the donation in January from Microsoft Account Representative Rodney Patterson and Dell Account Manager David Allen at a quarterly meeting for school technology specialists.

The donation was made possible through a partnership between Microsoft and Dell that sets aside a percentage of the money each company receives from school systems’ technology purchases. The funds, calculated on the quantity of technology orders, are then donated back to the school system to use for technology deployment, implementation, and staff training.

Lovett says that the donation will be used to enhance training for all school technology specialists. Technology specialists provide software and hardware support to schools, such as equipment and program installation, troubleshooting, and overall assistance with technology issues.

“This generous donation will help Fulton provide the latest training resources to our school-based technology specialists,” said Lovett. “By improving their proficiency and knowledge,Fultoncan deliver the best and most efficient technology support to students, teachers, and their schools.”
