Upchurch receives J.L. Christian Award

Jamie Upchurch of Re/Max Advantage has received the J.L. Christian Award, presented recently by Fayette County Board of Realtors President Sandra McCrary.

The award was established in memory of Mr. J. L. Christian, one of the 12 original board members of the Metro South Board of Realtors. The award recipient is selected each year by the board president for his or her contribution to the board and for their assistance to the president during his/her term of office. The recipient exemplifies the true Realtor spirit — someone who contributes unselfishly to the real estate industry, his fellow Realtors and to the community.

Upchurch said she felt very honored to receive this award and that being a Realtor has been such a positive experience that she will continue to do what she can to give back to an industry that has been so good to her and her family. She also gives credit to her assistant, Donette Cobb, who has been very instrumental in her efforts.

Upchurch and her husband Mike, a native of Henry County, reside in Locust Grove and have two sons. Keith, her oldest son, is married, works for Comcast and lives less than a mile from them. Shane, her youngest, is in his third year at Georgia Tech.

Upchurch has just completed her ninth year of real estate. She has received many accolades over those years, such as Rookie of the Year in 1995, Agent of the Year in 1999 2001, one of “Atlanta’s Top 100 Realtors” in 2000, WCR Superstar in 2000, and in 2003 she was nominated for Agent of the Year. She feels the key to her success has been that she tries to treat people the way she would want to be treated.

She is a member of National Association of Realtors, Women’s Council of Realtors, South Metro Board of Realtors, Henry Council for Quality Growth and Henry County Chamber of Commerce.

Upchurch specializes in new homes, resales, land and commercial property in the south metro Atlanta area. She is currently the exclusive agent for Leesburg Plantation in Locust Grove, with homes ranging from the $140’s to $180’s on wooded half-acre lots, just minutes from I-75. With only 15 lots left, she knows it won’t be long before she moves on.
