Collins calls for Tenet to resign During an interview on the Fox News Channel on Saturday from Atlanta, U.S. Rep. Mac Collins, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, called for the resignation of CIA Director George Tenet. George Tenet has a lot of shortfalls. I am calling for his resignation. I think it is time for Tenet to go ... he should have gone a long time ago, Collins said. Collins was concerned with comments Tenet made in a speech last Thursday at Georgetown University in Washington about Intelligence gathering. The episode last week at Georgetown was the straw that broke the camels back. I have observed him (Tenet). I have listened to him. I have watched him as he has testified (before the House Select Committee on Intelligence), and I have not been satisfied with his answers, Collins said. Tenet was appointed as CIA director by President Bill Clinton in 1997. During the interview, Collins pointed out that intelligence failures in Iraq were a result of lack of human intelligence, but assured viewers that efforts are being made to correct that shortfall. We did not have human beings in Iraq to give us vital information. We were relying (to heavily) on satellites, Collins stated. On questions related to the President's Commission, the Congressman urged caution, and indicated that many similar commissions have ended up becoming more political than policy driven.
