Medicare seminars offered

Fulton senior citizens can attend one of 15 Medicare information sessions in February to learn how the new law affects their prescription drug costs.

The sessions on the “Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003” will be held at Fulton County’s senior service sites. They are sponsored by the Fulton County Human Services Department’s Office of Aging in coordination with the Federal Administration on Aging, Medicare, Georgia Department of Human Resources, and the Atlanta Regional Commission.

Most times are 10:30 a.m.-noon. Evening sessions are February 23, 25 and 26.

The new law, signed by President George Bush December 8, 2003, preserves and strengthens the current Medicare program, adds new coverage for prescriptions and benefits, and helps people who have low incomes. Participants can choose to stay with current coverage, or enroll in new options.

For more information about a session, call the Fulton County Senior Information and Assistance Hotline at 404-730-6000.
