Final segment of parkway gets underway

Fulton County District 7 Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards will host a groundbreaking for the completion of the South Fulton Parkway.

The event is today at 11 a.m. on the southern portion of the Parkway, near the intersection of Cochran Mill Road.

The $4.8 million project will construct 2.1 miles of road that will connect the existing northern and southern segments of the South Fulton Parkway. Construction is expected to be complete in summer 2006.

The northern existing portion ends at Rivertown Road and the existing southern segment begins at Cochran Mill Road. The final segment will run between these two points.

Project funding was allocated by the Georgia Department of Transportation. The project contractor is Sunbelt Structures, Inc.
