The new elementary school in Grantville could have its boundaries drawn Tuesday night.

Earlier this week, the parents’ committee unveiled the boundary lines for the new school, and things went fairly smoothly.

“Having the parents involved in the process made a huge difference,” said school system public information officer Dean Jackson.

The biggest number of students will come from the Moreland Elementary school district, which is being split in half, Jackson said.

One of the other schools being affected is Eastside Elementary in Senoia.

Jackson said 20 students who live along Gordon Road will be transferred to Moreland , while 40 students who live on Deep South Road and Elders Mill Road will be sent to Willis Road Elementary School.

“This is actually going to help some of the overcrowding at Eastside. We have 11 mobile units, and we’ll be able to reduce that by 3 or 4,” he said.

The school system did receive some good news this week from the state concerning the new school. The state has approved $4.6 million in funding for the school, so the Coweta board won’t have to look for other ways to fund the projects.

The board will discuss the new district lines at Tuesday’s meeting at Ruth Hill Elementary School in Newnan at 6;30 p.m.
