Newnan concert set for Jan. 31

Newnan’s Municipal Auditorium has been renamed “The Charles Wadsworth Auditorium” in recognition of the annual benefit concerts Wadsworth has held there to raise funds for the renovation of the building to make it a suitable venue for artistic performances and other community uses.

A trio of Coweta County vocal artists will be performing there Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. in a concert entitled “No Greater Love.”  Their repertoire will consist mostly of eight songs from the recently released CD “No Greater Love” by Brenda Clark, the trio’s leader.  Admission to the concert is free and the public is invited to attend.

Brenda Clark, who with her husband pastors the Lighthouse of Praise Deliverance Tabernacle on U.S. Highway 29 in Newnan, grew up in Grantville where she sang at her home church, St. Paul CME in Lone Oak. The two other singers in the concert will be Elaine Jones Turner or Newnan and Rev. Tony Nalls of Grantville, a former choir director and now a pastor at the Greater Jehovah Baptist Church in Grantville.

One of the selections in the concert repertoire, which is also on Clark’s CD, is the song “We Are Healed.”  Clark says that this song “is one God gave to me and He said that it was going to touch lives and cause souls to be healed as well as bodies.”

She also explained that her CD title “No Greater Love” refers to “the love that God has given to us.”  Further information on the concert and on her CD, which will be sold at the concert and will be available soon in stores, can be obtained by contacting Clark at 770-253-5104 or by email at bclark12@charternet.com.
