The healthier side

By F.C. FOODIE

Ahh, January ... it’s the month when the gyms are overrun and resolutions are made to living a healthier lifestyle in the new year.

But in our time-compressed society, many people don’t have time to cook healthy and are looking for alternatives in the restaurant area.

When the year started, it seemed like the advertisers started cranking out the ads promoting all sorts of health food options for the world’s most obese country.

Here are some of Foodie’s picks for eating healthier, while still dining out in the county:

• Any of the wraps at Chick-fil-A. The wraps provide healthy fillings, such as grilled chicken, yet are still a tasty choice for a quick lunch.

• The bison burger at Ted’s Montana Grill. Bison is far lower in fat than regular ground beef, and offers a healthy alternative to the “burger on the run.” Any Atkins Diet fanatics can just eat the bison and skip the bun.

• Sandwiches featuring chicken and turkey at Subway. Subway has also jumped on the Atkins bandwagon by offering wrap sandwiches.

• A delicious seafood dinner at Famous Fish Company. You’ll have to stay away from the fish and chips, but other preparations of seafood in this Peachtree City restaurant will keep you healthy and trim.

• Chinese vegetables at some of our Chinese restaurants such as Chin Chin. Stay away from the fried rice, and you’ll be fine.

• The fresh salads at Deli Delicious in the Braelinn Shopping Center in Peachtree City.

These choices should help you get a jumpstart on spring, and have you in shape for the summer.
