Fayette County sheriff’s deputies have filed stolen vehicle and other charges against a woman they believe was plotting to rob a north Fayette convenience store early Tuesday morning.

Sheena Angela Shedd, 19, of Turin was charged with one felony count of theft by receiving stolen property and misdemeanor counts of theft by receiving stolen property, obstruction of a police officer and driving with a revoked license.

Charges and the identity of a second suspect arrested by deputies were unavailable at press time Thursday. He ran away when Shedd took off in a stolen vehicle, but he had been handcuffed after Dep. Chris Stapleton found out both nearby vehicles were stolen, said Lt. Col Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Shedd was later found hiding in bushes in the Newton Estates subdivision near Ga. Highway 314 at 5:30 a.m., Jordan said. The other suspect was apprehended around 10:30 in Clayton County by officers there who spotted him on a residential street with his handcuffs still on, Jordan said.

Shedd and the other suspect were planning to rob the Citgo store at the intersection of Ga. highways 138 and 314, Jordan said. They arrived in two stolen vehicles: one that was stolen from a newspaper carrier in Newnan prior to the incident and another that had been stolen Saturday from a gas station in Clayton County at the intersection of Tara Boulevard and Ga. Highway 54, he added.

Deputies also found a gun in a location they believe Shedd hid out in before she was caught, Jordan said.
