Danny Lawrence Bray

Danny Lawrence “Bo” “Doc” Bray, 49, died Jan. 10, 2004. He was born June 5, 1954. An Eagle Scout in his youth, Bray was a paramedic and a nurse. A memorial service will be held tonight, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell & Son chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Survivors include parents, Huie and Bea Bray of Brooks; a son, Brandon Lee Bray of Conyers; daughters, Onie Beatrice Diane Bray of Macon and Rachel Nicole Bray of Brooks; a sister, Patsy and Bobby Goolsby of Barnesville; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Carl J. Mowell & Son, Fayetteville, was in charge.

Miriam Ruth Farr Rigsby

Miriam Ruth Farr Rigsby, Union City, formerly of College Park, died Jan. 1, 2004. She was born in Muscogee County but lived most of her life in the Atlanta area. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, E. E. Rigsby Sr., Services were at First Christian Church of Tyrone with Minister Billy Rowe and Minister Wye Huxford officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include her children, E. E. "Woody" and Barbara Rigsby Jr., and Alice and John Hume, all of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Laura Higgins, Julie Moon, Beth Buckholtz, Bryan Rigsby, and Beth Pope; and great-grandchildren, Zach and Emma Higgins, Justin and Taylor Buckholtz, Josh and Morgan Rigsby, and Nathan, Meredith and Landon Pope. Ruby E. Tripp

Ruby E. Tripp, Fayetteville, died Jan. 2, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, W. W. "Bill" Tripp. Services were at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral chapel with the Rev. Dr. Paul Carrier officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include daughters, Fay T. and Donald DeLoach, Fayetteville, and Iris T. Scheffel, Decatur; a sister, Delores Ruggiero, Winter Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Brad DeLoach, Ross DeLoach, Guy DeLoach, Stacey Jones, and Angela S. Garvin; and great-grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Olivia DeLoach, Grayson Garvin, Austin Garvin, and Colton Garvin. Roy Dawson Cagle

Roy Dawson Cagle, 85, Fayetteville, died Jan. 2, 2004. He was born June 29, 1918 in Atlanta, the son of John William and Lula Mae Cagle. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Georgia Power. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Robert Cagle and Ralph Cagle. Graveside services were at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Whitmire officiating. Survivors include sisters, Louise Ivey, Hapeville, Thelma McMillan, Riverdale, and Dorothy Newton, Covington. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Douglasville, was in charge.

Charles Jo Hensley

Charles Jo Hensley, Peachtree City, died Jan. 3, 2004. Memorial services will be at a later date. Survivors include a sister, Betty J. Tolbert, Forsyth. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Peter Joseph Gilbert

Peter Joseph "Joey" Gilbert, 23, Fayetteville, died Jan. 3, 2004. He was born Aug. 20, 1980 in Fulton County. He was an honor student at the University of Georgia, and was successfully mentoring several of his friends with their education. Services were at Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Scott Grissom officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include parents, Peake Gilbert, Fayetteville, and Mrs. Warren Gilbert, Fayetteville; a brother, Timothy and Neiva Gilbert, Ball Ground, Ga.; sisters, Ashley and Bill O'Brien, Fayetteville, and Robbie and Peter Vekselman, Cumming. Irene Crews Brown

Irene Crews Brown, 92, Fayetteville, died Jan. 4, 2004. She was born Sept. 28, 1911 in Meriwether County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Brown Sr., and a son, Earl "Sonny" Brown Jr. She was the first employee at the Peachtree City Post Office and served over 20 years. She was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include a grandson, Joel and Michelle Brown, Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Monica, Renae, and Danielle; and a sister, Betty and Joe Burdette, Tyrone. Carl J. Mary Haddock Jones

Mary Haddock Jones, 77, Fayetteville, died Jan. 4, 2004. She was born Jan. 6, 1926 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Jones. She was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at the Hawthorne Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia. Survivors include daughters, Donna and John Clark, and Judy Clark, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, James Clark, and Dorena Clark, both of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Ashley, Jonathan, Danya, and Steven; and a half-brother, Tommy Haddock, Fla. Audrea Carig Brock

Audrea Craig Brock, 39, Fayetteville, died Jan. 5, 2004. She was born March 28, 1964 in DeKalb County, Ga. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dennis Watson officiating. Interment was at Floral Hills Cemetery, Tucker. Survivors include her husband, James "Jimmy" Brock, Fayetteville; a son, Cory Brock, Fayetteville; a daughter, Taylor Brock, Fayetteville; parents, Richard and Peggy Craig, Toccoa, Ga.; and sisters, Deborah and Buck Hall, Holly Springs, N. Harry Alan Pilcher

Harry Alan Pilcher, 59, Fayetteville, died Jan. 5, 2004. He was born Aug. 15, 1944 in Fulton County, Ga. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Roger Robinson officiating. Survivors include his wife, Linda Pilcher, Fayetteville; children, Scott and Tara Pilcher, Darren and Katie Pilcher, and Teri Leigh Pilcher, all of Fayetteville; a grandson, Aron Pilcher, Fayetteville; a brother, Phil Pilcher, Fayetteville; and a sister, Patricia Estes, Atlanta. Betty Joan O’Rear

Betty Joan O'Rear, 62, Fayetteville, died Jan. 5, 2004. She was born Aug. 1, 1941 in Jasper, Ala. She was retired with 18 years as supervisor of Centralized Scheduling at Southern Regional Hospital. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Randall Harris and the Rev. Carlton Swicegood officiating. Interment was at Lisbon Baptist Church Cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Terrell O'Rear, Fayetteville; a son, T. David O'Rear, Fayetteville; daughters, Terri McKinsey, Riverside, Ill, and Lisa Thayer, Midlothian, Va.; six grandchildren; her mother, Evelyn Wilson, Jasper, Ala.; and a sister, Barbara Jean Guthrie, Mountain Brook, Ala. Alison Lee Valliant Moody

Alison Lee Valliant Moody, 26, Fayetteville, died Jan. 6, 2004. She was born Sept. 9, 1977 in Fulton County. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Alan Parker officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, College Park. James O. Sams

James O. Sams, 96, Hampton, died Jan. 6, 2004. He was born March 4, 1907 in Clayton County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Shields Sams. He was a member of the Davidson Masonic Lodge, Woolsey, and Woodmen of the World. He was retired as an aircraft maintenance supervisor at Fort Gillem Army Depot, Forest Park. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Bob Partridge officiating. Interment was at Woolsey Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include children, Gail Gresham, Jonesboro, Sandra Cornelius, and Michael Sams, both of Hampton, and Mortimer Sams, Peachtree City; one nephew; and one niece. Carl J. Ruby Green Goins

Ruby Green Goins, 98, Fayetteville, died Jan. 6, 2004. She was born Aug. 8, 1905 in Fayette County. Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Clay Huey officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include her children, Reba Rook, Jamestown, N. C., Ruth Cook, Peachtree City, Jack Goins, Jonesboro, and Kenneth Goins, Leesburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Victoria Clark and Attie Baker, both of Norman Park, Ga. Florence Booth Mitchem

Florence Booth Mitchem, 87, Riverdale, Fayette County, died Jan. 6, 2004. She was born Aug. 7, 1916 in Madison, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Mitchem. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Minister Paul Carrier and Minister Kenny White officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Newton, Riverdale; grandsons, Kevin Mitchem, Pensacola, Fla., Mark Mitchem, Shreveport, La., Alan Newton, Milner, Ga., Lee Newton, Holly Spring, Ga., Les Newton, Peachtree City, and Scott Newton, Griffin, Ga.; granddaughters, Sandra Shifflett, Scottsdale, Ariz., Angela McLane, Tallahassee, Fla., and Susanne Orth, Hampton, Va. J.D. Rideout

J. D. Rideout, 79, Jonesboro, Fayette County, formerly of Las Vegas and San Francisco, died Jan. 6, 2004. He was born Aug. 13, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio. He served as a Navy aviator in World War II. After the war, he began a lifelong career with Trans World Airlines. During his 39 years at TWA, he served as a captain and held assignments as a check-captain, and captain for the joint TWA-Saudi Airlines in the 1970's. There were no services. Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl and Todd Strayer, Jonesboro; a grandson, Zack Strayer, Smyrna; a granddaughter, Torey and Matt Wucher, Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Logan, and Brooklyn; a brother-in-law, Jerry Parks, Atlanta; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jo and Bill Walters, Atlanta.
