New Senoia council meets By JOHN THOMPSON The new year was kicked off in Senoia Monday night, with two new council members and a mayor taking over the reins in the growing east Coweta city. Mayor Robert Hannah took the oath of office from city clerk Debbie Hogan and said he felt good about working with the new City Council. Shortly after he was sworn in, Hannah asked Councilman Robert Belisle to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem, which met with unanimous accord from the other councilmembers. Councilmembers Tony Miller and Larry Owens also took their oaths and expressed excitement about their new positions. The first meeting of the year was also a brief one, with only two official bits of business occurring. The council voted to cancel the January 19 meeting because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. There was a brief discussion about rescheduling the meeting later in the month, but the council decided just to cancel it. Ive talked to (city clerk) Debbie and she said theres really not anything that pressing on the agenda, Hannah said. The other issue the council resolved was increasing the fee for obtaining copies of the citys zoning ordinances and historic preservation ordinances. Previously, the city charged $25 for each document, but city administrator Murray McAfee said the city was losing money on the effort. He recommended doubling the fee to $50, which the council unanimously approved.
