White Road rezoning pulled by developer

A rezoning proposed by a local developer for a new subdivision on White Road has been withdrawn.

Bob Rolader was seeking a rezoning from R-30 to R-22 for a 34-lot single family subdivision called Heaton Lakes. But the withdrawal of the rezoning was announced at last week’s council meeting.

Now, Rolader must submit a plat showing how it will be developed under the less dense R-30 zoning classification.

The planning and zoning commission had previously approved the rezoning with a requirement that stormwater detention be strongly looked at to avoid creating more flooding problems for nearby subdivisions.

Residents had also complained to the planning commission about more traffic the rezoning would bring to the area. One resident actually yelled while making a point to the commission, officials said.
