Robert H. Mathis
Robert H. "Bob" Mathis, 70, Midwest City, Okla. died Nov. 23, 2003. He was born Oct. 30, 1933 in Hahira, Ga., the son of Billy Goodman and Maude Mae Shaw Mathis. He was retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Yeoman with 20 years of service. He was a former assistant police chief in Peachtree City. He later served as a police officer in Jonesboro, Ga., and in Oklahoma City. Services were at the Choctaw Road Baptist Church with interment at Arlington Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife, Marita Dumont Mathis; children, Beth and James Mackay II, Temple, Ga., Glenn and Joanne Mathis, Edmond, Okla., Melani and Dale Welchel Jr., Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; a brother, William A. "Billy Dean" Mathis, Woodland, Ga.; and a sister, Sue DeWitt, Cleburne, Texas. Survivors from this area include a nephew, Jimmy Booth, Peachtree City; and a niece, Sherry Vogt, Brooks. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Charles Wilber Groover
Charles Wilber Groover, 85, Fayetteville, died Dec. 6, 2003. He was born April 10, 1918 in Bowden, Carroll County, Ga. He was graduated from Atlanta Christian College in 1943 and for more than 50 years he ministered to congregations in the Christian Church in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Services were at the New Chapel at Christian City with the Rev. Dr. James W. Dyer and pastor Kenny White officiating. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park. Survivors include his wife, Nellie "Ruth" Miller Groover, Fayetteville; sons, Edwin and Belinda Groover, and Joseph and Brenda Groover; five grandchildren; a step-grandson; and one great-grandson.

Patricia C. Moore
Patricia C. Moore, 67, Fayetteville, died Dec. 9, 2003. She was born July 24, 1936 in Omaha City, Neb. A private memorial service will be at a later date. Survivors include her husband, James H. Moore; sons, Rick A. Moore, Biloxi, Miss., and David S. and Suzanne Moore, Sharpsburg; a sister, Vickie Ganzel, Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Carl J. James Matthew Thonmpson
James Matthew "Jimmy" Thompson, 61, Maryville, Tenn., died Dec. 9, 2003. He was born in Maryville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Thompson. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Thompson; children, Richard and Andrea Thompson, Sharpsburg, Mike and Starr Thompson, Signal Mountain, Tenn., Pam Baker, Charleston, S.C., Ken and Sonja Baker, Newnan, Pat and Jimmy Gilbert, Flovilla, Jimmy and Sarah Thompson, Maryville, and Audrey Davis, Mount Pleasant, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Nell Thompson, Fayetteville; a brother, Tommy and Cheryl Thompson, Fayetteville; and a sister, Lydia and Richard Lipovac, Newnan.
