Support a local cause this Christmas By MICHAEL BOYLAN During the holidays, many charities are looking for assistance to make someones Christmas a little merrier. It would be impossible to list all of the worthy charities that could use some help this season, but there are two groups that deserve being mentioned. The Fayette Youth Protection Home, which provides shelter, safety, food, healthcare, counseling and love for abused and neglected children, is facing their second year of a consecutive loss. Last year, the Fayette Youth Protection Home closed its books with a $30,000 loss and this year they are facing a $50,000 loss. If you can make a donation, please visit www.fyph.org or phone 770-371-5051. The Childrens Restoration network is teaming up with HoneyBaked Ham stores, Hair Cutterys and Harry's Farmers Markets, to provide Toys for Tots. Each store has a giant stocking hung with ornaments, gingerbread men and snowmen with a childs name on one side and their wish list on the other. The stores will be accepting donations until Friday, Dec. 19, at which point the toys will be collected, wrapped and personalized. The toys will go to over 1,300 area children in shelters and group homes. For more information, visit www.children.org.
