Wednesday, December 10, 2003 Bullard hosts Firefighter Appreciation Day In celebration of National Fire Safety Month, local firefighters were honored by the Coldwell Banker Bullard office in Newnan. Our local firefighters often put their personal safety at risk to protect our most valuable possessions - our families and our homes - so we wanted to show our sincere appreciation to them, said Linda Mitchell, managing broker for Coldwell Banker Bullard Realtys Newnan/Coweta County office. Most people don't think about the job the firefighters do until they need them, then their quick response and training are most important. The public was invited to attend the event held at the local Coldwell Banker Bullard office on the corner of Ga. Highway 34 East and Highland Drive. All those in attendance were treated to hot dogs, chips, drinks, popcorn, and assorted desserts. There were also balloons and a coloring contest for children. Firefighters Jeff Denney, Corey Mask, Jamar Bailey, and Adam Westbrook from Station #12 were on hand to show off their firefighting equipment and answer questions about their jobs. Several aspiring firefighters even got to try on the firefighters hats and coats. There was also a fire engine on display for children and adults alike to sit in and examine the equipment. A photographer was available to take photos of children in the fire truck. Other local businesses lending their support to the event by providing door prizes include First Newnan Insurance Group, Grahams Cottage Photography, Party City, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Fayette Chiropractic, Dynasty Restaurant, Papa John's Pizza (Thomas Crossroads), Publix (Thomas Crossroads), Chick-fil-A (Thomas Crossroads), and Market Street Mortgage (Donna Broderick). Anyone who did not get to attend this event is encouraged to tell a firefighter how much you appreciate them, said Mitchell.
