Noel November raises $32,000

It was magical — the lights, the music, the Christmas trees and wreaths and a room full of willing and enthusiastic bidders as the Fayette County Board of Realtors began the ninth annual Noel November, A Celebration of Trees and Wreaths.

The event raised $32,000 for local organizations in need including, the Fayette Youth Protection Home, Fayette Senior Services, Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence and the Fayette Field of Hope.

“It was a most magical evening and everything ran exceptionally smooth,” said co-chair Cindy Davidson.

The day-long celebration began with an open house where families walked the wintry path through the trees and wreaths admiring the handiwork of local citizens, companies and organizations who donated their creations to the event.

Local elementary schools, churches and companies joined in the celebration providing choral groups, juggling acts and dance routines from Fayette Intermediate, Sara Harp Minter Elementary, Peeple’s Elementary, Carla’s Dance Factory and Christ’s Church at Whitewater. The room was full at 10 a.m., according to co-chair Jim Bishop, who added his appreciation for all the families and groups attending to support this annual event.

Dick Steele played Santa Claus and brought smiles to young and old who wanted to sit upon Santa’s knee.

Part of the evening’s excitement is the judging of the auction items. Judges from the four recipient organizations participated in the review of the trees and wreaths:

• Most Creative Tree (All American Christmas) donated by Gallopade International.

• Most Festive Wreath, Arrangement or Item (Gold & Red Delight) donated by Our Father’s House

• People’s Choice (Cat in the Hat) donated by HomeBanc Mortgage

• Outstanding Theme Tree (Fayette “Fore” Families) donated by Jan Trammell Real Estate

• Children’s Award (Grinch Who Didn’t Steal Christmas) donated by The Home Source Realtors

• Best of Show (Radko Sparking Christmas) donated by Chase Manhattan Bank.

• Best Small Tree (The Jewels of Christmas) donated by RE/MAX Around Atlanta Ð Results

• Sweetest Tree (Candyland Christmas) donated by RE/MAX Around Atlanta Ð All Stars

• Judges Choice (Hats of Red) donated by Fayette County Parks & Recreation.

• Most Festive Arrangement (A GingerBread Fantasy) donated by Harry Norman Realtors.

• Best Children’s Wreath (Merry Barbie Christmas) donated by Keller Williams Realty.

Chip Young, owner of the Barn, graciously donated the use of his facility for this year’s event. This year Mr. Young placed his Barn on the auction block — not once, but twice — to help raise funds for the event, bringing in an additional $3,500.

The long list of volunteers required to bring Noel November to light each requires the dedication of hundreds.

“Giving back to the community is a joy from our hearts,” said co-chair and entertainment coordinator Stephen Walker. “Thank you, Fayette County, for your continued support of this wonderful event.”
