Civitans selling Christmas trees By CAROLYN CARY The Fayette County Civitans are now selling Christmas trees for their annual fundraiser. The trees are in front of Melears Restaurant and are all fraser firs. Several members traveled to the high mountains of North Carolina in August and marked the ones they wanted. A tree farm cut them Thanksgiving Day and brought them to Fayetteville. Fraser firs will only grow above 3,000 feet and, if properly watered, will stay green until March. They also will not lose needles very quickly. Civitan members are on hand each afternoon and evening to help you with your selection. Net proceeds will be distributed among the Joseph Sams School, Fayette Samaritans, Fayette Youth Protection Homes, Southwest Christian Hospice, Special Olympics, Camp Big Heart, for developmentally disabled, Multiple Sclerosis, and the Scouts. The club meets second and fourth Thursdays at Melears in Fayetteville.
