Helping nonprofits during the holidays

If you do not have a specific organization to give a hand to during the holidays, consider one of these:

• The Fayette Samaritans are in need of children’s and teens blue jeans and winter coats and jackets. The Samaritans’ office is at the corner of Hickory Avenue and New Hope Road. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and can be reached at 770-719-2707.

• The Fayette County Department of Family and Children’s Services is in need of grocery store gift cards from supermarkets. It is located at 905 Ga. Highway 85 South, and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number is 770-460-2569.

• Braelinn Community Services Inc., at Braelinn Baptist Church, has need of canned meat products, tuna, beef, etc. as well as baby items such as diapers, wipes, etc. Its service center is at 382 Senoia Road in Tyrone and the hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday evenings, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The phone number is 770-487-6691, ext. 222.

• St. Vincent DePaul Society of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, at 101 Walt Banks Road and Ga. Highway 54, is in need of hygiene products such as shampoo, toothpaste, etc. and cleaning products such as dish detergent. It can be reached at 770-487-7672.
