New sign approved for combined businesses in downtown Fayetteville By JOHN MUNFORD Two downtown businesses that operate in one building have been approved for a new sign that can be moved closer to the road. The Fayetteville City Council approved the use of a hanging sign or J. Sam Burch and Associates and Hair Bazaar, which are located at 235 Stonewall Avenue west. The businesses needed variances for both issues since the city’s ordinances don’t allow hanging signs or for existing signs to be relocated. The current location of the sign is blocked from view by shrubbery on an adjacent lot, said Jahnee Prince, the city’s director of planning and zoning. The new sign will still be historically accurate, Prince said.
