Mary Annette Beck


Mary Annette Beck, 67, Fayetteville, died Nov. 7, 2003. She was born Jan. 18, 1936, the daughter of the late Charlie Pope and Callie Edwards Milton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Beck. She was graduated in 1954 from Robert E. Lee High School, Thomaston, and is a 1957 graduate of Piedmont School of Nursing. In 1966 she served in the medical corps of the United States Air Force for two years. She later received her masters degree from San Jose University in California in 1982, and in 1998 she retired from Kaiser-Permanente as a Nurse Practioner. A memorial service was held at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Helms officiating. Survivors include a son, John and Melissa Elliott, Marietta; grandchildren, Ann Elliott, and Preston Elliott, both of Marietta; brothers, Gene and Frances Milton Austell, and Charlie F. and Ruth Milton, Sharpsburg; and sisters, Rachael and Gordon Mohler, Newnan, and Brenda Soehn, Miami, Fla. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.

Johnnie Lee Hubbard


Johnnie Lee Hubbard, 80, Tyrone, died Nov. 13, 2003. She was born June 6, 1923 in Talladega, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Hubbard. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Vince Vellucci officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include sons, Durwin Dale Hubbard, Luthersville, and Joseph Donald Hubbard, Tyrone; a daughter, Gloria Joan Gilbert, Conyers; and several grandchildren. Carl J. Alvin Ernest Lengel


Alvin Ernest Lengel, 78, Fayetteville, died Nov. 13, 2003. He was born July 19, 1925 in Cambria County, Pa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Lengel, and a sister, Charlotte Denomme. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Tom Pilgrim officiating. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cook, Ill. Survivors include children, Marilyn Carmony, Brownsburg, Ind., Kathie Lengel, London, England, Susan Piette, Valparaiso, Ind., Nancy Guerra, West Hollywood, Calif., Jonathan Lengel, Monteno, Ill, and Matthew Lengel, Highland, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and sisters, Bettie Mahn, and Helen Yando, both of Michigan. Dorothy Alice Pennington


Dorothy Alice Pennington, 89, Fayetteville, died Nov. 15, 2003. She was born Dec. 23, 1913 in Atlanta, the daughter of Thomas P. and Mae McDonald Pennington. She served in the United States Navy in World War II, and received her degree in law in 1948. She retired in the early 1970s, having worked for the United States Federal government for 31 years. She returned to Georgia this past summer and resided with relatives, John T. and Alice S. Elfer. Her remains were interred at Floral Hill Cemetery, Palmetto, with Deacon Natad officiating. Carl J. Donald Thurnau


Donald Thurnau, 78, Peachtree City, died Nov. 16, 2003. He was born Dec. 18, 1924 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Clarence and Helen Thurnau. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics and had a career in the computer science field. In retirement, he enjoyed golf, the Peachtree City Kiwanis Club, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City. Graveside services were at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Dick Dodds officiating. Survivors include his wife, Joy Thurnau, Peachtree City, daughters, Kate Rogers, Newnan, and Ellie and Trigg Wood, Peachtree City; grandsons, Paul Rogers, and Ben Rogers; granddaughters, Jessica Wood, and Suzi Wood; a brother, Gene and Edna Thurnau, Dunedin, Fla.; and a sister, Ruth and Wally Schultz, Orlando, Fla. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Biddy Cook


Biddy Cook, 76, Fayetteville, died Nov. 16, 2003. She was born Jan. 5, 1927 in Fulton County. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. L. Cook. Services were at the Fayette Presbyterian Church with Minister David Black and Minister Garrett Arnold-Hoffman officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include a son, Ron and Candace Cook, Gainesville, Fla.; a daughter, Robin and Freddy Edwards, Peachtree City; and grandchildren, Paul and April Cook, Jacksonville, Fla., Chris Cook, Orlando, Fla., 1st Lt. Geoffrey Edwards, United States Army Iraq, Mathew Edwards and Justin Edwards, both of Peachtree City. Mary Davis


Mary Davis, 88, Fayetteville, died Nov. 16, 2003. She was born May 29, 1915 in Walker County. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Nelson Davis. Services were at the Chickamauga First Baptist Church with interment in the Chickamauga City Cemetery, Chickamauga. Survivors include daughters, Betty and Frank Thompson, and Cathy and Reuben Kinsey, all of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Dan and Lois McNally, Lexington, Ky.; and a sister, Catherine McNally. Rhonda J. Robinson


Rhonda J. Robinson, 52, Gay, died Nov. 16, 2003. She was born Oct. 10, 1951 in Fulton County. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell & Son chapel with the Rev. Matthew Hinesley and Chaplain Jim Hilderbrand officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Robinson, Gay; sons, Jodey Jackson, Grantville, and Kenyon Robinson, Gay; her mother, Dorothy Turner, Gay; and brothers, Steve and Sharon Turner, Gay, and Mark and Tony Turner, Fayetteville. Lillie Bradberry


Lillie Bradberry, 89, Tyrone, formerly of Newnan, died Nov. 17, 2003. She was born in 1914 in Fairburn, the daughter of A. D. and Essie Bradberry. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Bradberry, and a daughter, Janie Bradberry. She enjoyed taking care of her family and always put everyone’s interest ahead of her own. Services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Roland Ayers officiating. Interment was at Shadnor Baptist Church, Union City. Survivors include sons, Bobby Bradberry, and Denson Bradberry, both of Tyrone; a brother Edward “Chuffy” Bradberry; a sister, Bessie Lee Bradberry; grandchildren, Jeffrey Boatwright, Donna Fay Boatwright, Darlene Smith, Paula Jean Boatwright, Robbie Bradberry, and Wanda Braswell; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. William Grady Morgan


William Grady “Skipper” Morgan Jr., 52, Fayetteville, died Nov. 18, 2003. He was born April 18, 1951 in Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his father, William Grady Morgan Sr. He was a life-long resident of Fayette County and active in the youth baseball associations. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Mike Lynch officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, Janet Long Morgan, Fayetteville; a son, Paul Morgan, Fayetteville; a daughter, Elizabeth Morgan, Fayetteville; mother, Catherine Edge Morgan Brown; and sisters, Myra Stathas, Lanilrada, Calif., Pat Barnes, Roswell, and Gail Blakely, Rex. Memorial donations may be made to the Fayette County Baseball Association.

Mary Gazelle Doster


Mary Gazelle Doster, 88, Riverdale, died Nov. 18, 2003. She was born Nov. 30, 1915 in Paulding, Ohio. Services were at the Riverdale Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Austin officiating. Interment was at Crestview Cemetery, Guntersville, Ala. Survivors include a daughter, Dee Bowen, Riverdale; a brother, Jack Craig, Detroit, Mich.; and grandchildren, John and Jill Bowen, Newnan, Robert and Heather Bowen, Tyrone, and Josh and Tabitha Bowen, Stockbridge. John Matthew Trudewind Sr

John Matthew “Captain Jack” Trudewind Sr., 71, Fayetteville, died Nov. 19, 2003. He was born March 24, 1932, in Washington, D. C. He was a member of the sheet metal union and a master journeyman for 45 years. He was an avid salt water fisherman and a member of the Atlanta Saltwater Fisherman’s Club. Memorial services were at Flat Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Priester officiating. Survivors include his wife, Estelle “Trudy” Trudewind; children and families, Sandy Trudewind, John Scott and Cathy Trudewind, Steve and Elaine Trudewind, Michael Trudewind, Scott and Theresa Buckley, Clay and Nancy Austin; and grandchildren, Matt and Tiffany Trudewind, Jonathan Austin, Andrea Trudewind, Katie Austin, Chris Buckley, Daniel Austin, Brian Buckley, Paul Buckley, and Jennifer Buckley. Henry Willis Eberhart


Henry Willis “Bill” Eberhart, 77, Fayetteville, died Nov. 20, 2003. He was born Sept. 23, 1926 in Fulton County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Shahum Eberhart. He served in World War II, and was a retired financial planner. He was a member of the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge #711, F&AM. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Ernie Hinson officiating. Interment was at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro. Survivors include a son, Colen Richard and June Eberhart, Fayetteville; daughters, Sheryl and Rex Dowdy, Loganville, Patricia Savage, Fayetteville, Susan and Joey Barksdale, Ariz., and Tracy and Frankie Sims, McDonough; and 11 grandchildren. Priscilla Rhodes Wiley


Priscilla Rhodes Wiley, 75, Fayetteville, died Nov. 21, 2003. She was born May 26, 1928 in Elbert County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alexander Wiley. She was retired from the Group VP Trust Department after 20 years of service at SunTrust Bank. Graveside services were at Westminster Memorial Cemetery, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Jeffrey Halenza officiating. Survivors include sons, Phil and Vicki Wiley, Grayson, and Alex Wiley, Apison, Tenn.; a daughter, Tricia and Dr. Alben Curtis, Fayetteville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Imanelle and W. John Robert Bennaman


John Robert Bennaman, 47, Fayetteville, died Nov. 21, 2003. He was born April 6, 1955 in Americus. Services were at the Harps Crossing Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Watson officiating. Interment was at the Brooks Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ann Bennaman, Fayetteville; children, Katie Bennaman, and Andrew Bennaman, both of Fayetteville; father, John and Sharon Bennaman, Franklin; mother, Shirley Williamson, Americus; a brother, Jim Bennaman, Sharpsburg; and a sister, Lisa Bruner, Albany.
