Newnan students recognized for scholarship

Nine Newnan High School students have been announced as AP Scholars by the College Board, in recognition of exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program exams.

Kristina Lam qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor award by earning and average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of those exams.

Eight Newnan students qualified for the AP scholar award by completing three or more AP examinations with grades of 3 or higher, including Emily Asher, Lindsey Behrens, Stepahnie Deason, Paul Norwood, Julia Redmon, Char Roberts, Jane Skinner and Emily Sprayberry.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level coursework while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement or both for the successful performance on the AP exams. Students took AP exams in May after completing challenging college-level courses at their high schools. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on the number of yearlong courses and exams, or their equivalent semester-long courses and exams.
