Grantville school under construction

The Coweta County Board of Education held a symbolic groundbreaking for Grantville Elementary School Sunday.

The groundbreaking took place at the Poole Street entrance to the site, near Grantville Brown School.

Work has already started on the school, which will open for the 2004-05 school year. The school will initially house an anticipated 450 students, and will be built with a more "traditional" elementary school design than recent Coweta County schools.

The 20.8-acre site for the school lies between and adjoins the existing Grantville Brown school site and U.S. Highway 29 south.

Grantville Brown once served the city of Grantville as a school. The building is owned by the Coweta County School System, and leased to the West Georgia Regional Education Service Agency (RESA), serving Coweta County and five other counties in the West Georgia region.
