Council to hear appeal of multifamily moratorium By J. FRANK LYNCH The Peachtree City Council will hear an appeal Thursday of the citys moratorium on multi-family development just two weeks after voting to extend the ordinance for another year. Bob Adams Homes has submitted a letter to the city asking that the ban be lifted so it can pursue the possibility of including a multi-family component in a new residential community the company plans for the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 South and Rockaway Road, known as the Stephens Tract. Currently, the property is zoned a combination of GI, or general industrial, and SFM, single-family medium density, according to the citys land use map. City planners have made no recommendations on the request, but noted in a memo to council members that the request from Bob Adams Homes includes the potential for increased impact fees from the residential development, as well as the realignment of Rockaway Road and Redwine Road. The council reaffirmed the multi-family moratorium with little fanfare at the Nov. 6 meeting. Also Thursday, the council will consider a new Intergovernmental Agreement for the Peachree City Airport Authority, which the authority needs in order to borrow funds for construction projects. The authority needs to put a new roof on the main terminal building and expand hangar operations. The council will also be asked to sign off on the new management agreement with the Peachtree City Tourism Association to operate the amphitheater and tennis center. It will also consider the associations budget starting Dec. 1 and continue through the 2004 fiscal year. In other business, the council is scheduled to: Consider a resolution to adopt the Solid Waste Management Plan update; Adopt a trust to trust transfer ordinance for the Defined Benefit Pension plan; Consider purchase of an asphalt milling machine and various budget amendments; Consider an alcohol license request for Smokey Bones Barbecue & Grill in the former Don Pablos location next to Longhorn Steakhouse. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, Ga. Highway 54 at Willowbend Road.
