Amnesty month is November at the Fulton County library

Atlanta-Fulton Public Library patrons with overdue items can return them without fines or penalties during an amnesty period from November 10 through December 7, 2003.

Overdue books and other materials may be returned to any Atlanta-Fulton Public Library branch or dropped off in branch book return drops.

This is the first amnesty period held by the library in more than 10 years. Currently, approximately 40,000 patron library cards are blocked due to overdue materials; 30,000 items are listed as lost annually.

The amnesty period is the first step in the process of migrating to a new circulation system. ÊReturn of overdue items or “lost” items will result in a smoother transition to the new system. ÊUnicorn, a catalogue system developed by SIRSI, is expected to be fully implemented by April 2004.
