More CCSU students call Clayton Place home

Clayton College & State University students make up 76 percent of the residents of the new Clayton Place apartments adjacent to the university’s campus in Morrow, thanks to the joint efforts of Clayton Place Business Manager Verda Simpson, her Clayton Place team, and Clayton State University staff.

Clayton Place is owned and operated by Place Collegiate Properties. Although the apartments are not located on the Clayton State campus, student residents are within a minute’s walking distance from classes.

Clayton State’s recent fall registration and orientation brought with it opportunities for Clayton State and Clayton Place cooperation. Clayton State’s Chef and Manager of Dining Services Thomas Pritchett left the Laker Grille to cook free barbeque outside the Clayton Place clubhouse. Clayton Place Community Advisors encouraged incoming students who attended Laker Days to go to the barbeque and perhaps consider Clayton Place as their home away from home.

For those students who did decide to call Clayton Place home, Clayton State and Clayton Place worked together to provide a smooth resident move-in for fall semester. Clayton State Director of Student Life Jeff Jacobs helped with the move-in.

“Residents were happy with the move-in process, and we got a lot of positive feedback on that,” said Simpson, who plans to increase resident activities such as a recent Bingo Night and an upcoming Thanksgiving dinner. Clayton State staff members have also played a part in resident life, offering programs on personal awareness safety and health and nutrition.
