Fans of classical music will get a special treat next Monday when both the Fayette County High School and Whitewater High School orchestras present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. at Sams Auditorium.

Fayette County’s advanced orchestra will perform Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nacht Musik” and Corelli’s Concerto Grosso, while the intermediate orchestra will perform the overture of “The Barber of Seville,” Mozart’s “Lucio Silla” and the Brandenburg Concerto #3. Whitewater’s orchestra will perform the “Carnival of the Animals” and the theme to “Masterpiece Theatre.” The orchestra will then combine and perform the 1812 Overture. Conductor Darilyn Esterline also said there will be a few more surprises.

Esterline also stated that combining the orchestras has been very interesting. “It has been a little challenging because they don’t have daily rehearsals together, but it has been a good experience as the student get to see people with different talent and patience levels.”

After next Monday’s concert, the schools will begin to practice Christmas music.
