Incumbent Peachtree City Councilman Dan Tennant lost in a landslide to
political newcomer Stuart Kourajian in Tuesday's municipal elections.
Kourajian had 3072 votes (64 percent) to Tennant's 1721 (36 percent) in the Post 2 race.

Brown Amphitheatre office manager Judi-ann Rutherford finished first in a three-way race to fill the open Post 1 seat being vacated by Annie
McMenamin. The final tally showed Rutherford with 2179 votes (49.4
percent), Lee H. Poolman with 1473 (33.4 percent) and James Adduci with 737 (16.7 percent.) Rutherford and Poolman will meet in a runoff election the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to decide the winner.

In Fayetteville's only contested race Wilson Price outpolled Paul Oddo
Jr. 227 votes (53.6 percent) to 194 (45.8 percent) to take the open Post
1 seat. Mayor Kenneth Steele and Councilman Glenn Brewer were reelected without opposition.

The YES votes edged the No votes to give Peachtree City voter approval to a nearly $5 million library repair and expansion bond. It was 2476 YES (50.8 percent) to 2400 NO (49.2 percent).

Tyrone voters signaled their approval of liquor by the drink with a vote
of 362 YES (59.8 percent) to 243 NO (40.2 percent).

Lisa Richardson was reelected and Lyn Redwood won her first council race for the Tyrone Council. Both were unopposed.

Voter turnout was heaviest on a light day in Peachtree City, where 4919 voters (26 percent) out of 19,071 registered came to the polls. In
Tyrone, 607 (24 percent) of 2,580 registered voters turned out. But in
Fayetteville, 93 percent of the city's registered voters decided they had better things to do than vote. Only 432 (7 percent) of the city's 6700 registered voters showed up to cast ballots.
