New technology
may revolutionize chiropractic care
Computer-assisted evaluation/treatment
system replaces traditional adjustment
Dr. Tom Grant Jr. of Grant Chiropractic in Fayetteville is among the first
chiropractors in the country to use a revolutionary new FDA-approved technology
that offers an objective evaluation and treatment as an alternative to
the traditional chiropractic hands-on approach.
The Pro-Adjuster uses space-age technology to locate and then correct
back and other problems. The information is graphically displayed on a
computer monitor to allow the chiropractor to pinpoint the problem area
and determine the exact adjustment needed. The patient can also visualize
their problem and see their problem and see their improvement at the end
of each visit.
This kind of accuracy in analyzing the problem and objectively treating
it never existed before in our field, said Dr. Grant. Not
only are the results excellent, but the fear element has been removed
from the minds of many patients.
How it works
The doctor evaluates and treats patients with the Pro-Adjuster while they
are seated and their spine is in mild flexion. This position allows the
joints between the vertebra to open up so they can each be analyzed and
adjusted individually. Unlike traditional chiropractic adjustments, there
is no torqueing or twisting of the spine.
Each vertebra is analyzed by evaluating the echo of a light
percussive force that is introduced to the body by the Pro-Adjuster. A
sensor reads the mechanical output and, with the use of proprietary software,
allows the doctor to analyze the vertebrae in several ways:
A Bar Graph & Waveform Analysis reads the motion sensing of the vertebrae
after introduction of a percussion wave. These graphs give visual feedback
on the nature of spinal misalignment and whether it has been corrected
in the treatment process. A Vertebral Resonating Frequency is then scientifically
determined and a corrective, optimum frequency impulse is introduced to
obtain the maximum degree of functional improvement during each adjustment.
With traditional chiropractic evaluation, it is difficult to determine
the level of biomechanical improvement, said Dr. Grant. Compared
to the 98 percent reproducibility we get with the Pro-Adjuster, the reproducibility
of motion palpation (the most practiced method of joint mobility used
by chiropractors until now) is under 50 percent.
