Public hearing Dec. 2 for DHR

Local residents will get to have their say on services provided by the Georgia Department of Human Resources during a public comment meeting in Fayetteville Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The DHR’s most high-profile arm is that of the Department of Family and Children Services. The meeting will be held at the Fayette County Stonewall Government Complex in the county commission chambers from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Anyone wishing to speak at the hearing will get up to 10 minutes but must sign up in advance, providing a name, the issue to be presented and the recommended solution.
Speakers may sign up on the Internet at www.dhr.georgia.gov by clicking on the sign up link or by phone at 404-463-6006.
Officials say the public’s input is being sought in a number of statewide hearings to “tap the expertise” of advocates and from people served by the agency.
“The board and staff are committed to improving services and meeting citizens needs and this is a wonderful opportunity to have an open dialogue focused on ideas and solutions,” said Bruce Cook, chairman of the Board of Human Resources which oversees and sets policy for the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
