City mulls over land deal for future park By JOHN THOMPSON Could the children of Senoia soon have a new place to play after school? The City Council listened Monday night as resident Jan Boal once again offered to sell the city a .46-acre lot at the intersection of Seavy and Barnes Street. Its been talked about for years about turning this lot into a park, Boal said. The lot also features the Baggarly cabin, which was saved from demolition several years ago by Walter Baggarly, who bought the historic structure and then said it to Boal. Boal said they are currently attempting to sell the cabin to another party, so any deal with the city would only include the lot. He added he had really not tried to sell the property to anyone else, and if the city was not interested, he would probably hold on to it as an investment. When asked if he considered donating the property to the city, Boal just shook his head. We're not as wealthy as some people, and that's really not an option, he said. While no purchase price was mentioned Monday, Boal said he would be glad to show the City Council in private how he assessed the value of the property. The City Council took no action on the proposal.
