Model UN brings home first win of season

Sandy Creek High School’s highly acclaimed Model United Nations team is living up to its reputation by bringing home a win from its first competition of the season.
The team competed at the Georgia Tech Model UN Conference Oct. 13-14 with the Indonesia delegation, walking away with one of only three Outstanding Delegation awards presented to the more than 70 delegations representing schools from three states. Additionally, senior Melissa Wilbur received one of 24 Individual Delegate recognitions out of the 600 students that participated.
The team will compete in the Georgia State Model UN Conference Dec. 1-2 with a total of five delegations. It will also participate in a conference at the University of Georgia in late January. Sandy Creek is home to the only Model UN team in the county, which competes at events that are designed to simulate the workings of the actual United Nations.
