Model UN brings
home first win of season

Schools highly acclaimed Model United Nations team is living up
to its reputation by bringing home a win from its first competition of
the season.
The team competed at the Georgia Tech Model UN Conference Oct. 13-14 with
the Indonesia delegation, walking away with one of only three Outstanding
Delegation awards presented to the more than 70 delegations representing
schools from three states. Additionally, senior Melissa Wilbur received
one of 24 Individual Delegate recognitions out of the 600 students that
participated.
The team will compete in the Georgia State Model UN Conference Dec. 1-2
with a total of five delegations. It will also participate in a conference
at the University of Georgia in late January. Sandy Creek is home to the
only Model UN team in the county, which competes at events that are designed
to simulate the workings of the actual United Nations.
