Fayetteville’s new police station/municipal courthouse will be built by Group VI of Peachtree City for just under $4 million.
The company was selected from two other competitors by the City Council Thursday night. The contract, which will be signed once the city has the financing in place through the Georgia Municipal Association, calls for a total price of $3,999,588 to design and build the complex.
That’s well below the estimated $5.2 million city officials had thought the project would cost initially, said City Manager Joe Morton. It was also below the other two proposals, with a $4.46 million cost from Leslie Contracting and a $4.7 million proposal from Facility Group.
“This is the first design-build process for the city and so far we like it,” Morton said.
The companies who presented proposals, including Leslie Contracting and Facility Group, were evaluated on various criteria including price, qualifications, aesthetics and time of performance.
Out of 100 points possible, Group VI finished first with a score of 97.3, followed closely by Leslie Contracting with 96.3 points and Facility Group with 94.1 points.
Jim Pace of Group VI said the company was proud to be selected to work with the city on the project.
“We are very excited to be working with you guys,” Pace said.
Mayor Ken Steele thanked city staff including Police Chief Johnny Roberts and City Engineer Don Easterbrook for their work on determining the city’s needs for the project.
“I’m also pleased that the bid was won by one of our local companies,” Steele said.
Easterbrook noted that the review process was lengthy and the evaluation committee was “very impressed” with the team Group VI put together.
