Voters have options in Palmetto election

Voters have three ways to cast ballots for theNovember 4, 2003, Special Election for the Fulton Commission chair (District 1 office): absentee by mail, absentee in-person, and election day.

Vote absentee by mail

Citizens not able to vote in-person on November 4th may request an absentee ballot by mail or fax. Voters must give a reason for their request such as away from the precinct on election day, being an election official or public servant, physical disability, religious holiday, or 75 years of age or older.

The request letter needs to include the name and date of the election, voter’s name, address as registered, and date of birth. Also, include the address where the ballot is to be mailed, daytime phone number and voter’s signature.

If the request is made by a relative, the relative must sign the request and state the relationship to the voter.

Vote absentee in-person

Also, beginning today, October 8, voters may cast their absentee ballot in-person on weekdays from 8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m.at the SouthFultonServiceCenter, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road,Room 220 in College Park,GA

Citizens voting in-person will use the new touch screen voting equipment and need to state a reason for voting absentee. Also, those who vote in-person the week before the election (Monday, October 27 Ð Friday, October 31) will not be required to have a reason for casting a ballot prior to November 4.

Vote on election day

The polls will open at 7 a.m.and close at 7 p.m. November 4. Voters will again use the new touch screen voting equipment.
