New chairperson named for Board of Commissioners The Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of Fulton County has named member Camille Finley as its new Board Chair. She succeeds Louis A. Bacon, who retired from the Board after serving as Commissioner since 1995 and as Board Chair since 1999. Commissioner Finley, who joined the HAFC Board in 2001, previously served as Assistant Secretary. A resident of South Fulton, she is a Senior Field Examiner with Safeco Insurance, a Girl Scout leader, and actively involved with community and civic issues. The 9-member HAFC Board meets at 10 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the HAFC main office, 10 Park Place South, Suite 550, in downtown Atlanta. The HAFC was created in 1972 by Fulton County legislation to help fill the need for decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing in unincorporated Fulton County. The Authority is developing plans to use $100 million, including a $17.2 million HOPE VI grant, to create two mixed-use, live-work-play affordable housing communities for working families. The new developments will be on the sites of the former Red Oak and Boat Rock public housing communities in South Fulton.
