No election in Palmetto By LINDSAY BIANCHI There will be no waiting up late this November waiting for election results in Palmetto. City Administrator Bill Shell said this week the city will not be holding an election Nov.4. The reason? Patti Hughes, 42, was the only candidate challenging the three City Council incumbents; Joyce Baker, Thomas Morrow and Leon Sumlin in the City Council races. But, Shell said, the city received a letter from Hughes this week saying she was dropping out of the race for personal reasons. Since Mayor Clark Boddie is facing no opposition in his race, the election has been cancelled. Shell said the city would have to absorb the $400 cost of the ballots that were already printed in anticipation of the election.
