All five candidates running for the two City Council seats up for election Nov. 4 are expected to attend a political forum Tuesday hosted by the Peachtree City Rotary Club.
The Rotary’s “Get Out the Vote” committee has traditionally sponored a “Meet the Candidates” night each time city council seats are up for grabs. This year’s forum will take place at the Wyndham Hotel and Conference Center.
According to the Rotary Club, the forum will provide a “town hall” atmosphere for the public to meet and question candidates prior to the Nov. 4 election.
The Post 1 seat held for 13 years by Annie McMenamin, who is leaving office on term limits, has three candidates in the running: James J. Adduci, owner of Martini’s bar in Westpark Walk; Lee H. Poolman, a manager in the finance department of Fulton County government; and Judi-Ann Rutherford, office manager for the Fred Brown Jr. Amphitheather.
Running for Post 2 are incumbent Dan Tennant, a regional sales manager for a manufacturer of corporate employee IDs, and Stuart Kourajian, a senior project manager with SunTrust Bank.
Following tradition, the forum will be moderated by a Rotary Club past president. A three-person panel of Rotarians will field prepared questions before taking open questions from the audience. Only issue-related questions will be accepted.
Another opportunity to grill the candidates will come Saturday, Nov. 1, when the Fayette County Republican Party host its First Saturday Breakfast at the International House of Pancakes Restaurant in Fayetteville, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
In addition to the Peachtree City council candidates, the candidates for City Council in Fayetteville have also been invited to be the guest speakers on the program.
The meeting is open to the public. For more information, please call 770-716-1545 or email chairman@fayettecountygop.org.
