Northgate homecoming festivities this weekend

The Northgate Vikings will be celebrating “Hollywood Homecoming” next week. The week’s activities begin Monday with “Favorite Celebrity Day.”
Tuesday’s theme is a tribute to classic western movies. Wednesday’s theme is “Twin Day” in honor of Danny DeVito’s and Arnold Schwarzeneger’s 1988 hit movie. Wednesday has even more excitement in store, as the roles reverse and the girls compete in the annual Powderpuff Football Game with the boys cheering them on from the sidelines. The game begins at 4 p.m. in the stadium. Admission is $3 for all.
Thursday’s theme is “Movie Day.” Everyone is invited to the Northgate campus that day to watch the parade of homecoming court representatives and floats. The parade begins at 4:30 in the bus loop area and will end on the stadium side of the school. Following the parade, the JV football team will take on Greenville beginning at 5:30. The homecoming court will be presented at halftime of the game. Thursday evening’s activities will conclude with the annual bonfire.
Friday will be “Viking Spirit Day” at Northgate, with the homecoming pep rally at 3 p.m. This is the day for all students to wear their homecoming t-shirts. The winning designs this year were submitted by Diana Mejia and Kristine Brannuck. Everyone is invited to the football game at 7:30 p.m. as the Vikings take on Alexander. The homecoming court will be presented and the queen announced at halftime of the game.
Following the game, all students, parents, and Northgate alumni are invited to the homecoming dance. The dance is from 9:00 - 11:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Admission is $3. Attire is semi-formal. The homecoming court will be presented one final time at the dance, with the evening’s festivities culminating with the crowning of Northgate’s first homecoming king at approximately 10:30 p.m.
