Gerald Daniel Gordy


Gerald Daniel “Dan” Gordy, 70, Sharpsburg, died Oct. 2, 2003. He was born Oct. 22, 1934 in Manchester, Ga. He was a member of Peachtree City Kiwanis Club. Graveside services were at the Luthersville Ga. City Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Brannon and Richard Campbell officiating. Survivors include his wife, Delores Gordy, Sharpsburg; children, Kim and Eddie Hips, Duluth, Cheryl and Chris Childers, Sharpsburg, and Loyd “Butch” Walker, Peachtree City; mother, Mildred F. Gordy, Prattville Ala.; brothers, Thomas Eugene Gordy, Fayetteville, and Ronald Lewis Gordy, Prattville, Ala.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two dogs. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

William Herman Betsill


William Herman Betsill, 71, Fayetteville, died Oct. 5, 2003. He was born July 22, 1932 in Fayette County. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Lee Betsill. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Jay Romans officiating. Interment was at Banks Cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include sons, Greg William Betsill, and John Betsill, both of Newnan, and Allen Betsill, Seal, Ala.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; mother, Ruby Betsill, Fayetteville; brothers, Clarence Betsill, James Betsill, and Paul Betsill, all of Fayetteville; and a sister, Mary Jo Fuller, Cleveland, Ga. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.

Jerome Eugene Mullins Sr.


Jerome Eugene “Jerry” Mullins Sr., 86, Fayetteville, died Oct. 7, 2003. He was born Oct. 1, 1917 in Gadsden, Ala., the son of George and Linnie Mae Peek Mullins. He was preceded in death by brothers, L. G. Mullins, and Paul Mullins. He was graduated from Emma Sanson High School, Gadsden. He played semi-pro baseball in Gadsden. His family moved to Atlanta in 1935 and he was employed by Spalding Foundry. In 1941 he began working for National Biscuit Company and retired in 1971 after 34 years in management. He played the guitar and mandolin and was part of a band for several years. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Frank Ellis officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, whom he married April 13, 1940, Cora Lucille Thomas Mullins, Fayetteville; sons, Gene and Carmen Mullins, Fayetteville, and Chuck and Cathy Mullins, Peachtree City; a daughter, Pat and Gilbert Butler, Locust Grove; brothers, George and Celia Mullins, Portland, Ore., and Billy and Beth Peek, Jekyll Island; a sister, Fannie Mae and Ben Tucker, Atlanta; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Mullins. Pearl H. McClure


Pearl H. McClure, 88, Union City, died Oct. 7, 2003. She was born July 13, 1915 in Fayette County, the daughter of James Edward and Emma Estell Evans Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde McClure. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. N J. Gividen officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery, College Park. Survivors include sons, Michael and Carol Leski, Palmetto, and Bobby and Mattie Shipman, McDonough; grandchildren, Genese and Ron Stanley, and Kevin and Christy McClure, all of Riverdale, Vickey and Steve Shauner, Rex, James and Deloris McClure Jr., Ronald McClure, and Samantha and Terry Meek, all of Hampton; brothers, Marvin and Claudine Hill, Fayetteville, and Robert Hill, Winder; and a sister, Miriam Long, Fayetteville. Charlotte Inez Thompson


Charlotte Inez Thompson, 70, Fayetteville, died Oct. 8, 2003. She was born June 13, 1933 in Fulton County. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Tony Lankford officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband, Charlie Thompson, Fayetteville; a son, Bobby and Cheryl Thompson, Zebulon; a daughter, Diane Turner, Stockbridge; grandchildren, Sabrina Barron, Monticello, and David Thompson and Eric Thompson, both of Zebulon; and brothers, Herbert Oliver, Forest Park, William and Agnes Oliver, Selma, Ala., and Wayne and Audrey Oliver, High Falls, Ga. Carl Neil Daehler


Carl Neil Daehler, 74, Fayetteville, died Oct. 9, 2003. He was born Dec. 30, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa. Services were at the McDonough Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Survivors include his wife, Linda Lee Fisher Daehler, Fayetteville; children, Derrick and Kristin Daehler, Senoia, Colby Daehler, Fayetteville, and Larry and Melanie Daehler, Port Orchard, Wash.; grandchildren, Melissa Daehler, and Carl Daehler, both of Port Orchard, Wash., Misty Daehler, Fayetteville, and Kaylee Daehler, and Carl John “CJ” Daehler, both of Senoia; and a great-grandchild, Austin Daehler, Port Orchard, Wash. Marian Lorraine Stock


Marian Lorraine Stock, 84, Peachtree City, died Oct. 9, 2003. She was born Oct. 24, 1918 in Burlington, Texas. She attended the Rose Bud High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin William Stock. No services were held. Survivors include children, Sharon and John Walden, Peachtree City, and Terry and Barbara Stock, Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and a brother, James Errol and JoAnn McAtee, Beaumont, Texas. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
