Airport Authority discusses capital improvement plans By MICHAEL BOYLAN The Peachtree City Airport Authority has big plans for 2004, and the money for the projects will come from a $350,000 loan and revenue from the hotel/motel tax. The main project for next year is repairs to the roof of the airport terminal. The leaks have contributed to other problems and the authority feels a permanent solution is in order. The cost of roof repairs is $198,000. The other main project is the paving of Stallings Road, which will lead to Hangar B, and will cost $150,000. Other expenditures scheduled for 2004 include airport security fencing and electronic gates ($7,500), a bush hog mower ($3,000), a diesel storage tank ($3,500), and the replacement of the carpet and the repair and painting of the interior of the terminal ($30,000) among others. Also listed as an expenditure for 2004 is the Airport Manager Jim Savages retirement payment of $40,000. A successor to Savage has yet to be named and Savage will assist the airport and authority as needed throughout the rest of the year. The authority also has projected capital improvement budgets up to 2013. Some future projects will include a courtesy van and an eight passenger passenger shuttle in 2005 with a combined cost of $41,500, Phase I of the Aviation Center Expansion for $150,000 in 2006 and $300,000 in 2007 and the construction of an Airport Maintenance Shop for $100,000 in 2010 and $150,000 in 2011. Falcon Field will certainly be growing in the next 10 years and many of these projects will be paid for through loan proceeds and revenue from the hotel/motel tax that averages out to $167,545 each year.
