Animal needs help

Azura is her name. She is a young Australian-German Shepherd mix that was found limping along a roadside last week. The good people at Georgia Heartland brought her in to Braelinn Animal Hospital to see how she could be helped.

Azura’s leg was x-rayed, and when the film was placed on the viewer, you could immediately see many, many little white dots all over the x-ray. Dr. Rickard explained that someone had been shooting Azura, and that the white dots were buckshot. Her leg had been injured, too, although he could not tell how it could have happened.

Azura cannot use the leg. It dangles as she walks about the hospital. The doctor says that Azura needs surgery on the leg to give it a chance to heal. Until then, Azura will be in a great deal of pain. The surgery could cost about $1,500 and will need to be done by a specialist. The only alternative is amputation.

This poor little dog is extremely sweet. She loves to get in your lap and give kisses. After what she has been through, it seems so awful to leave her in pain for the rest of her life or amputate her leg.

If the money could be raised, then she would have a chance to live a normal, happy life.
