'Call to Womanhood'; conference coming soon Fulton County Board Vice Chairman William Bill Edwards, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, and the Department of Human Services, Office of Children and Youth, are inviting girls and their parents to participate in two days of thought-provoking discussion and interactive workshops focused on fighting societal ills that hinder young girls from becoming empowered women. The 2003 Call to Womanhood conference is Oct. 17-18 at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel,165 Courtland Street. ÊThe registration deadline is Oct. 10. Registration is held on a first-come, first-served basis. Any organization, school or church that serves female youth in Fulton County ages 12-17 are invited to participate. All attendees must pre-register, reside in Fulton, and be accompanied by a chaperone, parent or guardian. Workshops range from topics such as teen violence, abstinence and self-esteem and diversity to overcoming obstacles and effective communication skills between youth and adults.
