RE: Termination of Planterra Tennis Facility Agreement dated November 18, 1993 ("the Tennis Center Agreement")

and

Termination of Frederick Brown, Jr.. Amphitheater Agreement dated November 18, 1993 ("the Amphitheater Agreement")

Dear Mayor and City Council:

At the request of the City, since 1993, the Development Authority has overseen management of the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater and the Peachtree City Tennis Center. During the course of our oversight, we have been pleased to direct these facilities through several expansions and lead them to unprecedented heights. The Amphitheater continues to host sold out performances and is in the process of wrapping up its most successful season ever. The Tennis Center expansion has been completed and it has recently been honored by the United States Tennis Association as the Public Tennis Facility of the Year. We are extremely proud of the progress of these facilities and of the wonderful heights we have achieved during the course of our management of them.

However, after much consideration, we believe that the management of these two now significant facilities is beyond the scope of a part time, volunteer Authority and that the expertise of the City's full time employees is required to continue the ongoing operation and success of these venues. Therefore, it is with some regret, but an acknowledgement of the current realities of the operation of the facilities, that the Development Authority hereby notifies the City that it is exercising its right under paragraph twelve (12) of the Tennis Facility Agrement and paragraph ten (10) of the Amphitheater Agrement to terminate those agreements upon thirty (30) days written notice. We are happy to meet with the appropriate members of the City staff to facilitate the transfer of the management of the facilities from the Authority to the City.

In closing, the Development Authority believes that there are very dedicated employees at the Tennis Center and the Amphitheater who have worked tirelessly to make these facilities the outstanding venues they are today. As such, we wholeheartedly endorse and recommend that the City continue the employment of each of these employees after the transition of the management of the facilities from the Authority to the City.

Sincerely,

J. Tate Godfrey

Chair, Development Authority of Peachtree City
