Grace Slaton Lanier


Grace Slaton Lanier, 90, Tyrone, died Sept. 19, 2003. She was born April 12, 1913 in Fayette County, the daughter of Eugene and Myrtice Adams Slaton. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. William O. “Bill” Priester and the Rev. Farren Roper officiating. Interment was at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Tyrone. Survivors include a daughter, Jackie and Junior Dalton, Tyrone; a brother, Thomas Slaton, Newnan; sisters, Madjorie Thompson, Tyrone, Doris Meachem, LaGrange, Jerline Chambers, Forest Park, Helen Howard, Gainesville, and Myrtie Eubanks, Newnan; grandchildren; Lisa and Gene Dalton, and Cindy and Wade Knowles; and great-grandchildren, Jake Knowles, Kayla Davis, Andrea Dalton, and Maegen Dalton. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Michael Anderson Stephens


Michael Andersen Stephens, 52, Tyrone, died Sept. 20, 2003. He was born April 29, 1951 in Fulton County. He was an employee of Northwest Airlines for 33 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with Minister Billy Rowe officiating. Interment was at Sharon Memorial Gardens, Tyrone. Survivors include his wife, Kimberley Stephens, Tyrone; a son, Geoffrey and Christine Stephens, McDonough; and a step-grandson, Jacob Allen. Louvale Landrum Deyton


Louvale Landrum Deyton, 66, Hampton, died Sept. 21, 2003. She was born in Tyrone to Wiley Clarence and Mamie Cloe Adams Landrum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Deyton, a former sheriff of Clayton County. She was retired from Clayton County Permits and Licenses Department and was a member of the Riverdale Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Services were at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Watson and the Rev. Ken Helms officiating. Interment was at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro. Survivors include children, Mike Deyton, Jacksonville, Fla., Mark and Patsy Deyton, and Melanie and Anthony Brooks, all of Fayetteville, Marlon and Lynn Deyton, McDonough, and Missy and Paul Barnes, Hampton; step-children, Norris and Melanie Deyton, Brooks, and Lamar and Shirley Walden, Tyrone; 13 grandchildren; one nephew; and one niece. Sarah Chaffin


Sarah Chaffin, 62, Tyrone, died Sept. 21, 2003. She was born Sept. 26, 1940 in Fulton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ron Edwards officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband, Holland Chaffin, Tyrone; sons, Rick Chaffin, and Micky Chaffin, both of Greenville, Alan Chaffin, and James Chaffin, both of Tyrone, Kenny Chaffin, Grantville, and Randy Chaffin, Sharpsburg, and Mark Chaffin, Palmetto; a daughter, Vickie Chaffin Lewis, Tyrone; a sister, Judy Greeson, Fairburn; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. James Milton Hensley


James Milton Hensley, 82, Fayetteville, died Sept. 22, 2003. He was born March 11, 1921 in Gaffney, S. C. He served in World War II in the China-Burma-India Theater of War. He was a member of the Christian Church, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7007, East Point, and an emeritus member of the East Point Masonic Lodge #288. He was retired from Audio Visual Service Company in East Point. Graveside services were at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park, with Minister Bob Tyler officiating. Survivors included his wife of 56 years, Murray Marie Loyless Hensley, Fayetteville; a daughter, Robin Marie Hensley, Atlanta; a brother, Judge Robert Edward Hensley, Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Kathryn Ann Rhoden, Melbourne, Fla.; and brothers-in-law, Theodore Edmund McAuliffe, and Melvin Franklin Hestley, both of Fayetteville. Roy Wilson Harris


Roy Wilson Harris, 78, Fayetteville, died Sept. 23, 2003. He was born Jan. 8, 1925 in Fayette County, the son of Roy and Willie Cornelia Roberts Harris. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Larry Stegall and the Rev. Ed Lynch officiating. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Willoughby Harris, Fayetteville; a son, Ray Harris, Greenville, Ga.; a daughter, Mary Lynn and Lamar Cox, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Teresa Cox, and Todd Cox, both of Fayetteville, Tim and Michelle Cox, Vidalia, Spencer Harris, Stockbridge, and Danny Harris, Mississippi; great-grandchildren, Dylan Harris, Jacob Harris, Morgan Harris, and Carson Cox; and an aunt, Alma Culberson, Hogansville, Ga. Robert Harris


Robert Harris, 67, Fayetteville, died Sept. 24, 2003. He was born Dec. 11, 1935 in Coweta County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with interment at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include sons, Ronnie Harris, Fayetteville, and Donnie Harris, Flowery Branch; sisters, Regina Price, Hampton, and Patsy Long, Riverdale; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Annie Lou Grant Crawford


Annie Lou Grant Crawford, 93, Peachtree City, died Sept. 24, 2003. She was born July 16, 1910 in Geneva, Ala., the daughter of Thomas Henry and Nancy Ellen Grant. She was one of four children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Grant Crawford, who died in 1982, and a brother, Howard Grant. She had lived in Forest Park for over 40 years, and was a long-term resident of Christian City Assisted Living program. She was an expert seamstress and loved to travel. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at Sherwood Memorial Park, Jonesboro. Survivors include children, Thomas Horace and Billie Crawford, Katy, Texas, William Roy and Ann Crawford Sr., Falls Church Va., Ellen McElroy, Huntsville, Ala., Jim Raymond Crawford, Forest Park, Janice Faye and John Boehl, Apopka, Fla., Gloria June Crawford, Northport, Ala., Marcia Joan and John Williams, Dexter, Ga., Rita Ruth and Chet Belcher, Dothan, Ala., and Laura Lou and Scott Grounsell III, Peachtree City; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Thelma Cope and Eula Mae Sloane, both of Panama City, Fla. Elizabeth Wiley Foster


Elizabeth Wiley Foster, 87, Tyrone, died Sept. 25, 2003. She was born Sept. 6, 1916 in Fulton County. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Interment was at Old Roswell Cemetery, Roswell, Ga. Survivors include her husband, Eugene H. Foster, Tyrone; a daughter, Marcia and Richard Dunacomb, Tyrone; a grandson, D. Scott and Kristi Perman, Charlotte, N. C.; a granddaughter, Cheryl P. and Al McGee, Powder Springs, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Andrea McGee and Brad McGee. Carl J. Grace Dorothea Collins


Grace Dorothea Collins, 90, Peachtree City, died Sept. 25, 2003. She was born Feb. 18, 1913 in Baltimore, Md. Memorial services were at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Father John Walsh officiating. Survivors include sons, Dr. Ricardo A. Carrillo, Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Dr. Miguel E. Carrillo, Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Pedro E. Kristina Lee MacArthur


Kristina Lee MacArthur, 33, Fayetteville, died Sept. 25, 2003. She was born Dec. 11, 1969 in DeKalb County, Ga. She was a member of Harps Crossing Baptist Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Ken Helms officiating. Survivors include her husband, William MacArthur, Fayetteville; a daughter, Rebecca MacArthur; stepson, Christopher MacArthur; a sister, Angela Lackey, Williamson; parents, Marty and Linda Williams, Dawsonville; and a niece, Kayla. Douglas Holley


Douglas Holley, 54, Fayetteville, died Sept. 25, 2003. He was born Dec. 9, 1948 in Augusta, Richmond County, Ga. He was graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1973 with a degree in textile management and was the Director of Development for the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech. Services were at Harps Crossing Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Watson officiating. Interment was at Mount Horeb Cemetery, Matthews, Ga., near Wrens, Ga. Survivors include his wife of over 35 years, Becky Y. Holley, Fayetteville; daughters, Heather and George Hamby, Atlanta, Hope Holley, Fayetteville, and Hayes and Robert Willett, Charlotte, N. C.; grandchildren, Ava Holley, 18 months, and Lydia Hamby, 7 months; brothers, Tom and Karen Holley, Thomson, Ga., and Jerry and Alleta Holley, Appling, Ga.; and a sister, Peggy and Charles Salter, Augusta. Lorraine G. Carroll


Lorriane G. Carroll, 60, Tyrone, died Sept. 26, 2003. She was born Feb. 25, 1943 in Fullerton, Calif. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include her husband, Larry Carroll, Tyrone; sons, Robert Carroll, Tulsa, Okla., and Shawn Carroll, Murphfreesboro, Tenn.; a daughter, Sheila Carroll-Williams, Douglasville; brothers, Jim Gillespie, and John Gillespie, both of California; sisters, Arlene Roper, Ruth Bormann, and Patricia Rhodes, all of California; and seven grandchildren.
