Masonic Lodge honors Huddleston By CAROLYN CARY The Fayetteville Masonic Lodge No. 711 F&AM installed and dedicated a new flag pole to its past worshipful master, the late Grady L. Huddleston. He was born and reared in the Clover community, now Peachtree City, son of Robert Hamilton and Emily M. Pope Huddleston. His life from October 7, 1923, to February 20, 2001, was filled with service to his country and his community. He was graduated from Fayette County High School in 1939 and served as a 1st lieutenant with the 34th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II. He was discharged in 1945, having received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the European Theater Ribbon with 2 Battle Stars. He served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1947 to 1960, served 8 years with the State Veterans Service Department from 1956 to 1963, and served Fayette County as a magistrate judge from 1987 to 2000. He was a past president of the Fayette County Kiwanis. The program was conducted by the present worshipful master, Charles Beasley, and Gradys wife, Carolyn Putnam Huddleston unveiled the plaque. Also present were his sisters, brother, daughters, Masonic lodge brothers, and many of his friends in the community.
